Mystery Man (Dream Man #1) by Kristen Ashley || BOOK REVIEW

Night time is the right time...
Gwendolyn Kidd has met the man of her dreams. He's hot, he's sexy, and what started as a no-names-exchanged night of passion has blossomed into a year and a half-long pleasure fest. Sure, it's a little strange that he only appears in her bed at night, but Gwen is so sure he's the one, she just can't turn him away...

Hawk Delgado knows more about Gwen than she could ever imagine. She's gorgeous, headstrong, and skittish about relationships. But Hawk is facing his own demons, demons that keep him from connecting with anyone. Yet when Gwen is drawn into Denver's lethal underground scene, Hawk's protective nature comes out full force. The problem is, when Gwen gets a dose of Hawk's Alpha attitude in the daylight, she's not so sure he's the one anymore....

So I did not read this series in order... I have a tendency to flip flop around books in a series until I read all of them. I know this isn't the *best* way to read a series but... whatever... I'm happy. JUST LET ME READ IN PEACE!

Okay, so Kristen Ashley is one of my faves. Ya' know, she's awesome, and everything she writes seems like it came out of a unicorn's butt. Her books are kind of like cocaine, actually. COINCIDENCE?? Conspiracy theory, anyone???

The Dream Man Series has four books in it, and the characters are mentioned and/or seen in various other works by K.A.. I actually tried to start this series about a year a go but, get this, I could not STAND Mystery Man the first time I read it. I had to stop about halfway through after I found out about... Thursday. You know... Thursday. THUURRSDAYYY.

I read that passage and literally put the book down and didn't pick it up again until almost a year later. I read more of K.A.'s books in between, and loved them, but I just couldn't get myself to pick up Mystery Man again. HOWEVER! I got really bored one day, and wanted to read some Kristen Ashley- I got the urge, ya' know? And I knew I didn't want to go anywhere near Thursday again, but I liked the premise of Law Man (which is the third book in the Dream Man Series), picked it up and absolutely loved it. So after I read Law Man I thought, why not give Mystery Man another go? Maybe last year just wasn't the right time for it, or maybe I needed a warm-up to the series and the characters. I went back and started the book from the beginning, and read it straight through the night in one sitting. Yes, I actually got past Thursday.

💮💮
So without further ado, here are my likes and dislikes of Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley.
💮💮

LIKES:

Gwen.
I liked her, she's very relatable. I envied her because of her close contact with a plethora of hot guys. H.O.T guys. Yes, so jealous.

Ginger.
Gwen's crazy bitch sister was highly entertaining. And really, without Ginger, Gwen and Cabe would never have met. Without Ginger, the whole Dream Man Series would never have happened. So thank Ginger, enjoy Ginger... but maybe don't act like Ginger. On second thought, just don't be Ginger.

Sweet Pea.
“Don't call me baby when you're pissed, Sweet Pea."
"Don't call me Sweet Pea at all, baby”

*Sniff* I want a hot guy to call me a cute nickname! Where is my hot guy? WHERE??

Elvira.
Elvira is love. Elvira is life. We should all strive to be Elvira.

DISLIKES:

Thursday.
I think ya'll already know how much I do not like Thursday. The whole concept of Thursday. The whole days of the week and filler thing I did not enjoy. Nope. But I get why it's in there, for the drama, for the continuation of Cabe and Gwen's relationship. But still- ME NO LIKEY!

Hawk's past.
Now, I thought Cabe's past was interesting and critical to the plot, though tragic. However, I hated how it made Hawk act like a complete ass at times. I understood the WHY, but I still didn't like it. In fact, Hawk's attitude was a turn off for me most of the time. Like, I would never date him, but I did think he and Gwen matched.

So in the end, I liked this book. K.A. always brings it with her writing.

Ratings
4.5/5 stars
Did I like the ending?
Of course! Kristen Ashley never disappoints with her epilogues.
Would I read again?
... I might already have... K.A.'s books never get old.
Would I recommend?
Oh yeah. Although, you might have a rough time with this book like I did at first. So you might want to do what I did and start with a different book in the series.

Talk to ya'll later,
Jasmine
