Night time is the right time...
Gwendolyn Kidd has met the man of her dreams. He's hot, he's sexy, and what started as a no-names-exchanged night of passion has blossomed into a year and a half-long pleasure fest. Sure, it's a little strange that he only appears in her bed at night, but Gwen is so sure he's the one, she just can't turn him away...

Hawk Delgado knows more about Gwen than she could ever imagine. She's gorgeous, headstrong, and skittish about relationships. But Hawk is facing his own demons, demons that keep him from connecting with anyone. Yet when Gwen is drawn into Denver's lethal underground scene, Hawk's protective nature comes out full force. The problem is, when Gwen gets a dose of Hawk's Alpha attitude in the daylight, she's not so sure he's the one anymore....

So I did not read this series in order... I have a tendency to flip flop around books in a series until I read all of them. I know this isn't the *best* way to read a series but... whatever... I'm happy. JUST LET ME READ IN PEACE!

Okay, so Kristen Ashley is one of my faves. Ya' know, she's awesome, and everything she writes seems like it came out of a unicorn's butt. Her books are kind of like cocaine, actually. COINCIDENCE?? Conspiracy theory, anyone???

The Dream Man Series has four books in it, and the characters are mentioned and/or seen in various other works by K.A.. I actually tried to start this series about a year a go but, get this, I could not STAND Mystery Man the first time I read it. I had to stop about halfway through after I found out about... Thursday. You know... Thursday. THUURRSDAYYY.

I read that passage and literally put the book down and didn't pick it up again until almost a year later. I read more of K.A.'s books in between, and loved them, but I just couldn't get myself to pick up Mystery Man again. HOWEVER! I got really bored one day, and wanted to read some Kristen Ashley- I got the urge, ya' know? And I knew I didn't want to go anywhere near Thursday again, but I liked the premise of Law Man (which is the third book in the Dream Man Series), picked it up and absolutely loved it. So after I read Law Man I thought, why not give Mystery Man another go? Maybe last year just wasn't the right time for it, or maybe I needed a warm-up to the series and the characters. I went back and started the book from the beginning, and read it straight through the night in one sitting. Yes, I actually got past Thursday.

💮💮
So without further ado, here are my likes and dislikes of Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley.
💮💮

LIKES:

Gwen.
I liked her, she's very relatable. I envied her because of her close contact with a plethora of hot guys. H.O.T guys. Yes, so jealous.

Ginger.
Gwen's crazy bitch sister was highly entertaining. And really, without Ginger, Gwen and Cabe would never have met. Without Ginger, the whole Dream Man Series would never have happened. So thank Ginger, enjoy Ginger... but maybe don't act like Ginger. On second thought, just don't be Ginger.

Sweet Pea.
“Don't call me baby when you're pissed, Sweet Pea."
"Don't call me Sweet Pea at all, baby”

*Sniff* I want a hot guy to call me a cute nickname! Where is my hot guy? WHERE??

Elvira.
Elvira is love. Elvira is life. We should all strive to be Elvira.

DISLIKES:

Thursday.
I think ya'll already know how much I do not like Thursday. The whole concept of Thursday. The whole days of the week and filler thing I did not enjoy. Nope. But I get why it's in there, for the drama, for the continuation of Cabe and Gwen's relationship. But still- ME NO LIKEY!

Hawk's past.
Now, I thought Cabe's past was interesting and critical to the plot, though tragic. However, I hated how it made Hawk act like a complete ass at times. I understood the WHY, but I still didn't like it. In fact, Hawk's attitude was a turn off for me most of the time. Like, I would never date him, but I did think he and Gwen matched.

So in the end, I liked this book. K.A. always brings it with her writing.

Did I like the ending?
Of course! Kristen Ashley never disappoints with her epilogues.
Would I read again?
... I might already have... K.A.'s books never get old.
Would I recommend?
Oh yeah. Although, you might have a rough time with this book like I did at first. So you might want to do what I did and start with a different book in the series.

Talk to ya'll later,
Jasmine

Former tennis player Easton Bradbury is trying to be the best teacher she can be, trying to reach her bored students and trying to forget her past. What brought her to this stage in her life isn’t important. She can’t let it be. But now one parent-teacher meeting may be her undoing…

Meeting Tyler Marek for the first time makes it easy for Easton to see why his son is having trouble in school. The man knows how to manage businesses and wealth, not a teenage boy. Or a young teacher, for that matter, though he tries to. And yet…there is something about him that draws Easton in—a hint of vulnerability, a flash of attraction, a spark that might burn.

Wanting him is taboo. Needing him is undeniable. And his long-awaited touch will weaken Easton’s resolve—and reveal what should stay hidden…

I really enjoyed Penelope Douglas's 'Falling Away' series- I read the whole thing. And one day I was just chilling in front of the TV and all of a sudden thought to myself, "I want to re-read 'Bully'". So I did, and then a little while passed, and I was like, "I want more!". But alas, there was no more- so I decided to pick up another of Penelope Douglas's books, and that turned out to be 'Misconduct'.
I think the best, short, description of this book would be that it is a New Adult Contemporary Romance told in dual perspectives about a 23 year old former tennis pro turned teacher (Easton) and a 34 year old construction company owner trying to become a senator (Tyler). Sound interesting yet? IT DID TO ME SO I READ IT AND IT WAS GREAT. And the plot-twist? Easton ends up being Tyler's 14 year old son's teacher.

I do have to say though that the sex-scenes were pretty graphic- just to give you a fair warning. And for me, sometimes awkward to read through. I didn't find it too annoying though- I actually end up skimming/ skipping the sexy time scenes in most books halfway through. I read a book for the plot, not really so much for the smut although sometimes it's nice let's be honest who read 'Fifty Shades of Grey' for the plot? I sure as hell didn't I wanted to see just how weird/ creepy/ bizarre that sex could get half the time I was like "ewww" but whatever I did it now I understand all the jokes and I feel cool yay. Overall, the plot was good, and I enjoyed the story.

What I liked:
  • The "thrilling" aspect to this book- throughout it I was constantly trying to figure out what happened to Easton in her past and how exactly it was all catching up to her. WHO'S THE CREEPER BREAKING IN? I MUST KNOW!!
  • Tyler and Easton's relationship was pretty functional, albeit the problem of keeping everything on the down low so as not to upset Tyler's son, Christian.
  • How everyone tried and cared to not upset/ disrupt Christian- everyone really wanted to do what was best for him.
  • Seeing Tyler trying to rebuild his relationship with his son.

What I didn't like:
  • The ending plot-twist- figuring out who kept harassing Easton and breaking into her apartment. I didn't like it. I felt it didn't make sense in relation to the story and characters, and was too quickly revealed and then forgotten. Maybe if we had more backstory on Easton it would have made more sense.

Did I like the ending?
Besides that plot-twist at the end, I did. Although I would have liked a longer epilogue, maybe set further in the future- but that probably just boils down to personal preference. :)
Would I read again?
Sure! I can see myself reading it again.
Would I recommend?
If you want something quick to read, and don't mind large age-gaps, go for it!

Talk to ya'll on the flip side,

I recently finished the last book currently out in the Fantasyland series by Kristen Ashley, so I feel like it's the right time to finally write my reviews for each book. And ohmygod this is the best shit ever this series is AMAZING!! The idea of the story is that, besides our world, there is a parallel universe that has mirror copies of ourselves (personalities may differ, though)- and each book centers on a woman that gets sent to this other world and what happens to her there.
This first novel, Wildest Dreams, centers on a woman named Finnie who actually goes out of her way to find out that there is another world and pays a witch to send her there. There had been contact with the "other-world Finnie" and both had agreed to switch places with each other for a years time. Finnie's main reason for wanting the switch is that she wants to see her parents again who had died in an accident.
Finnie finally gets to the other world and realizes that the other her wasn't just anybody, she was a princess- a princess that conveniently forgot to tell Finnie that she was getting married the day of the switch. Also, as Finnie finds, her other world parents aren't pleased with the other her at that moment. Finnie gets swept off to the church/ temple/ place with giant god statues to get married to The Drakkar, or The Dragon (seriously how cool is that name), and it turns out The Drakkar isn't all that happy with other-world Finnie either. After the wedding ceremony Finnie gets taken to a cabin out in the middle of nowhere by her husband, left there alone, and thus starts her adventure in the parallel universe.
I LOVED this book, it had everything I wanted in it, and I felt like this was a great start to the fantasy series- because this is fantasy, complete with complex world building. What I liked about this novel was that it was so immersive and so easy and quick to read. Honestly, I don't want to say anything more about the plot and what happens in this novel because it is a ride that definitely needs to be taken without any spoilers. The only thing I could really compare this to is maybe... maybe an adult fairy tale? But it is so much more- this whole series is. A whole other world is created, a whole other culture. Kristen Ashley even created a language for the second book!
Just read this series. Just read it.

Did I like the ending?
Yes! 100 times yes! Everything is perfect, everything is great.
Would I read again?
I have... repeatedly.
Would I recommend?
Totally. Keep in mind though that this is a mature book with mature themes and sexy times. But I was reading my mom's romance novels at 12, so I couldn't really give you an age range- just be prepared.

Taa Taa for now,
Jasmine

Tim Mason was The Boy Most Likely To:
- find the liquor cabinet blindfolded
- need a liver transplant
- drive his car into a house

Alice Garrett was The Girl Most Likely To:
- well, not date her little brother’s baggage-burdened best friend, for starters.

For Tim, it wouldn’t be smart to fall for Alice. For Alice, nothing could be scarier than falling for Tim. But Tim has never been known for making the smart choice, and Alice is starting to wonder if the “smart” choice is always the right one. When these two crash into each other, they crash hard.

Then the unexpected consequences of Tim’s wild days come back to shock him. He finds himself in a situation that isn’t all it appears to be, that he never could have predicted . . . but maybe should have.

And Alice is caught in the middle.

Told in Tim’s and Alice’s distinctive, disarming, entirely compelling voices, this return to the world of My Life Next Door is a story about failing first, trying again, and having to decide whether to risk it all once more.

Just. Couldn't. Get. Through. It. I don't know if it's because of my age and I'm just too old for this particular book, or if I would have liked it better if I had read the companion before this book- My Life Next Door. This book is considered YA and I do prefer more mature romances. So, unfortunately, I just couldn't force myself to read the whole thing.
I also expected a light and fun romance, the cover really enforced this thought. I mean, I know you're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but the cover of this book just made me think of light, airy, cutesy romance. In actuality though, from what I read, it's just more angsty than I would have first thought.
Since I've never read anything else from Huntley Fitzpatrick, I had nothing to compare this novel to and had no expectations. Which can be both a good and bad thing. Good, because I didn't have any hopes on what this book would be as I guess the main couple from this book is mentioned in the previous companion novel- and bad because I just wasn't a huge fan of the book and I read it as essentially a stand-alone. I don't know, maybe if I was fifteen I would have liked it more.

Like I said above, I think that if I was a younger teen I would have ate this book up. I'd recommend you try it out.

Lost and Found (Lost and Found, #1)
There’s complicated. And there’s Rowen Sterling.

After numbing pain for the past five years with boys, alcohol, and all-around apathy, she finds herself on a Greyhound bus to nowhere Montana the summer after she graduates high school. Her mom agreed to front the bill to Rowen’s dream art school only if Rowen proves she can work hard and stay out of trouble at Willow Springs Ranch. Cooking breakfast at the crack of dawn for a couple dozen ranch hands and mucking out horse stalls are the last things in the world
Rowen wants to spend her summer doing.

Until Jesse Walker saunters into her life wearing a pair of painted-on jeans, a cowboy hat, and a grin that makes something in her chest she’d thought was frozen go boom-boom. Jesse’s like no one else, and certainly nothing like her. He’s the bright and shiny to her dark and jaded.

Rowen knows there’s no happily-ever-after for the golden boy and the rebel girl—happily-right-now is a stretch—so she tries to forget and ignore the boy who makes her feel things she’s not sure she’s ready to feel. But the more she pushes him away, the closer he seems to get. The more she convinces herself she doesn’t care, the harder she falls.

When her dark secrets refuse to stay locked behind the walls she’s kept up for years, Rowen realizes it’s not just everyone else she needs to be honest with. It’s herself.

Well... sometimes a book will come a long that you just like. No particular reason- you just like it. This is one of those books.
We meet Rowan while she's on a Greyhound bus to Montana, to spend the summer at the ranch of an old friend of her mom's. She's hating life, which I totally get because if you've never been on a Greyhound then you have no idea just how horrible they are- and you definitely start hating everything when you're on one (they suck like literally my back hurt for days after I rode one and you have to deal with loud stinky people which is a total no like nobody wants to deal with that shit). I got a sort-of troubled soul vibe from Rowan, and even though she acts pretty bitchy, I still empathized with her. She wears a ton of black, dyes her hair dark instead of her natural blonde, and wears heavy makeup. She's just not happy.
She finally gets off the godforsaken bus (and trust me, Greyhounds are godforsaken) and waits for the person who's supposed to pick her up. She notices a younger guy walk by with a cowboy hat and REALLY tight jeans- yes, that's one of the first things she notices. He goes up to the bus driver and asks him if he saw Rowan, holding up a picture of when she was younger. She goes up to him and says it's her... and he doesn't look at her weirdly- which Rowan wasn't expecting. She thought he'd look at her with disgust or confusion, but Jesse just introduces himself and hauls off her luggage to his old beat-up truck.
The ranch, of course, is totally different from anything Rowan has encountered in life- she's a city girl after all. And the people she meets are really different, too... they're, for the most part, nice to her. Her mom is a bitch very harsh and demanding woman and has basically no expectations of Rowan other than to be a druggie/ homeless/ hated by everyone type of person. And OHMYGOD when you find out what her mother did near the end of the book, what she had the AUDACITY to do to Rowan will piss you off! I was actually flabbergasted, and had to put the book down for a bit. Anyway, life at the ranch is extremely different than the one her mother provided for her, in a good way.
Rowan really develops through this book, and the amount of 'aww' moments between Jesse and Rowan just makes this book so much better. Rowan learns how to be a functional human being while being around everyone at the ranch, and it's just so pleasant to read and see her grow. I cannot recommend this book enough!

Four years ago, my dreams were shattered in an instant.
I tried to pick up the pieces and glue them back together the best I knew how, but something was always missing.
A father for my two girls.
But then, Brody Murphy landed on my doorstep, literally. He was a carefree, playful hockey player who barged into my life and messed with my head. He left me more confused than I had ever been.  What if the one thing I thought I needed was the only thing holding me back?
-----
I found this book while looking for novels that fit my "hot hockey guy romance" stint I was on. I was just eatin' them up. I read the synopsis for this book and it sounded interesting because it had an element I hadn't seen much of in this genre- one of the main characters is a parent. Looked cool, was bored and had nothing to lose, so I started to read it. And OMYGOD SO CUUTTTEE!! This book is filled with those *squee!* super duper cute moments that just put a smile on my face.

Kacie is a single mom who had her twin girls at nineteen, and her boyfriend left her within the first year of her twin's birth. She had been living with her mom for the last five years and helped run the inn her mom owned in Minnesota. One day, there is a huge rainstorm, and a bunch of people go to the inn for a place to stay, and one of them just happens to be Brody Murphy- tall, dark, and handsome hockey player. HELL YEAH! After a little time spent together after being cooped up waiting the rain out, Brody is hooked and wants to spend more time with Kacie and her kids. Kacie is unsure as she doesn't want to bring someone into her daughters life if they're just going to leave (like the dad), but Brody eventually gets Kacie to see that he's serious about the relationship.
I just loved how much Brody fell in love with not only Kacie, but her daughters too. He calls them his Twinkies! Soooo Cute!!!

Also, I'm super stoked Viper has his own book. Don't know who Viper is? Read the book and fall in love with the asshole like I did. :)

Oh, my goodness! I found something that I just have to talk about- because it's flippin' awesome. First though, let me give some backstory:
For the past few months, I've been having some horrible lower back pain (and not just the "it's that time of the month and I feel like crap anyway back pain"). I've been having some "I can't even sit or stand for long periods because my lower back hurts like a mofo". I'd tried tons of different lotions, pills, and patches to try and get the pain to go away- or at least fade, but to no avail. I had resigned myself to having to deal with constant lower back pain for forever into the nether, just like my dad who has had back problems for years.
Two weeks ago, while I was on a weekend getaway, I went into a cute little boutique to just have a look around. I walked to the front where I saw a huge display of Moon Valley Organics products- their packaging is really cute by the way. Perusing through a the products, I found it, the 'Muscle Rub'. I read through all the ingredients and was surprised by how simple it was, and it smelled awesome, and let's be honest smell is what seals the deal am I right.

Muscle Rub
The website and package of the rub says that, "our herbal muscle rub uses cayenne and arnica to deeply penetrate into sore muscles and joints to stimulate circulation and relieve minor aches and pains". Awesome, I like that, but I just got to say-

That's the first thing I thought of when I read that... haha... fat Amy anyone?
So... I bought it, obviously. And I LOVE IT. I put some on my lower back right before bed because my back had been hurting pretty bad at night, and I noticed pretty quickly that the pain was subsiding after I put on the rub. I also never woke up once throughout the night because my back was hurting and I had to move around- which I had been doing a lot. Also throughout the day my back really wasn't hurting all too bad. I put it on again the next night and the pain just kept lessening day after day. I had both my parents try it- mom has shoulder pain and dad has horrible lower back pain- and they both noticed a huge difference after they used it. I was so surprised that it helped my dad as he's had pain for years and has tried actual medication for it. Needless to say, my family's hooked, and were all going to be buying more when my current tube runs out.
Check out my YouTube video where I talk about the Muscle Rub
