Good by S. Walden || BOOK REVIEW

Cadence Miller is a good girl. She just happens to make one terrible mistake her junior year in high school which costs her ten months in juvenile detention. Now a senior, she's lost everything: her best friend, the trust of her parents, driving privileges, Internet access. It's a lonely existence.

But there is one bright spot: Mark Connelly, her very cute, very off-limits 28-year-old calculus teacher. She falls hard for him—a ridiculous schoolgirl crush headed nowhere. She can't help it. He's the only good thing at Crestview High. She doesn't expect him to reciprocate her feelings. How inappropriate, right? But he does. And he shows her.

And that's when her life goes from bad to good.

-----
'Good' by S. Walden is another *taboo* romance. I also think this is a book that you have to be in the right mood to read- as you have to be with many taboo romances. This book is also a bit more forbidden than some student/ teacher romances because it deals with a high school student/ teacher romance and not a college student/ professor romance (and I have read my fare share of those). We also meet Cadence when she is still seventeen, thus upping the stakes even more of this off limits romance.

The main character is Cadence Miller. An all around "does what her parents tells her/goes to church every Sunday/ gets good grades" good girl. Until she commits the mistake that sends her to juvie (and when you find out what she did you'll be like, "why?" It's kind of just a stupid mistake that is actually kind of hilarious- I giggled). We first meet her picking up trash on the side of the road -'cause she's in juvie and all- and while she doing her thing she meets a hot guy who dinkin' with his car on the side of the road. Small chat and some embarrassing moments ensue, and that's that. Later, on Cadence's first day back at school, what do ya' know, that hot dude off the side of the rode is her math teacher. Thus, the forbidden romance starts.
Overall, I liked this book. I thought it was good for what is was and I was also in the right mood to read it. I also appreciated the fact that *spoiler* (highlight if you wish to read) the pair did not have sex until Cadence turned eighteen. I did feel though that Mark was a little nonchalant in his approach with Cadence. Like "oh yeah, no problem she's a minor and she's my high school student I like her so we're just going to date it's going to be fine". Because of this, Cadence kind of gave off that vibe too- no big deal I'm dating the teacher eleven years older than me. The whole book came off as a lot less "taboo romance" than I was expecting. This can be good because I didn't once feel that gross/ weirded out feeling I get sometimes when I read taboo romances- but this can be bad because sometimes I just want to feel that "ew omygod why" feeling!

At times though I felt like Cadence was acting too childish- and I mean even more childish than a normal seventeen/ eighteen year old- and that Mark also treated her at times too much like a child. Which really irked me because he should have been treating her like an adult, right? He was having sex with her, so he should treat her like an adult, right? Riiiight?? Also,Mark did leave her after a pregnancy scare, which PISSED ME OFF. WHY? YOU STARTED THIS WITH HER. TREAT HER LIKE AN ADULT. DON'T LEAVE AND BE A LITTLE BITCH. Don't worry, they get back together... but still. *humph*. All in all though, this was an okay book that did entertain me, and that is what books are meant to do after all.

4/5 stars
Did I like the ending?
Yeah, it was fine. Felt a bit rushed to me, but a lot of books feel this way to me. There was no epilogue, but the end left the possibilities for a second book open- which there is by the way. :)
Would I read again?
Yes! And I have! It's a great book when you want to read something without having to think too hard about what you're reading.
Would I recommend?
If you're okay with age-gap romances and don't have an issue with student/ teacher romances, you'd probably like it.
